Practising in a language you think in is not the same as practising in English. RizzMaster runs the whole game in fifteen of them.
Nothing is a subtitle. The characters write in the language you picked, and everything that scores a message scores it there too.
A character keeps its personality type across languages. The tone travels, so a guarded character is guarded in Japanese too.
Scoring reads what you meant, not your spelling. Practising in a second language does not put you at a disadvantage.

The characters do not slow down for you, but nothing here is timed either. A late answer is not a wrong answer.
What the meter measures is the same everywhere: tone, timing, whether you answered the thing that was asked.
Which means a line that works in German works for the same reason it works in English, and you can feel why.

A dating conversation is carried by register. How formal you are, how quickly you joke, when you stop asking questions. None of that survives a translation layer.
So the characters are written in the language you are playing in rather than translated into it after the fact. What changes with the language is the phrasing, not the personality.
If you are learning, that makes it a rehearsal room. If you already speak it, it just means the game sounds like you.
